UCAELI - Intensive English Program

Intensive English Program (IEP)

Located on a safe, beautiful campus in rural New England, this program is for students who wish to concentrate on developing their English skills while experiencing the rich culture of a university community. Many students enrolled in this program are preparing for further study in the U.S. All levels of instruction, beginner through advanced, are offered each session. A variety of activities and trips complement classroom work. Sessions are 15 weeks each fall and spring and 8 weeks during summer. Students have 22 hours of instruction per week.

NEW 4-week program!

Our NEW 4-week Summer Intensive Program is designed for adult students (16 and up) who want to make the most of their short stay in the U.S. Our program combines daily English classes with an abundance of trips and activities.
Inside and outside of the classroom, the focus is on language learning. You may not notice how much you are learning because you will be having so much fun! Come join us and Activate Your English this Summer!

UCAELI - Evening English Courses for International Students


Evening English Courses for International Students (EECIS)

These courses are designed for international undergraduate and graduate students attending UCONN who need support in the areas of writing, oral communication and pronunciation. Courses develop skills that are essential for academic work. Classes meet twice a week in the evening for six weeks. Sessions are offered year-round.

UCAELI - Summer Camp

Summer English Experience

This action packed 3-week program for 13-17 year olds combines English study with sightseeing, recreation and cultural learning. Classroom work connects to students' experience of New England history and U.S. culture through a variety of activities and trips. Local kids participate to maximize communication in English and promote international exchange. The university campus provides a safe, yet exciting location for the program.



Professional and Vocational English Courses

Courses for professionals can be custom designed to meet the needs of participants in their work or for their professional development. UCAELI has delivered professional English courses in Communication, Presentation and Pronunciation, and Vocational English. Courses are delivered at the workplace site.

NEW Legal English Intensive Course

This course is designed for international students enrolled or admitted to a law program, prospective law students, or attorneys who are considering an LLM program. The course will be taught by the author of "Legal Writing for International Students", Susan Reid, who holds degrees in Law, Teaching English as a Second Language, and Social Work.

Location: UCONN Law School in Hartford, CT
Dates: August 18 - 29, 2008
Schedule: Monday/Wednesday/Friday 5:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Cost: $455 per student
