Explanation of fees:

  • Application fee: Non-refundable fee covering application processing.
  • Tuition: Based on 22 hours of instruction per week Fall and Spring and 25 hours Summer sessions.
  • University fees: Required fee covers access to medical care at university campus infirmary and provides student ID card.
  • Housing in undergraduate dormitory: Shared room with UCONN undergraduate student. No kitchens, meal plan is obligatory.
  • Housing in graduate dormitory: Single room in graduate student dormitory. Must be 23 years old.
  • Homestay: Single room in home of local family. Meals are negotiated, fee quoted includes cost of 3 meals per day. Transportation to campus may or may not be provided by hosts. Please request UCAELI Homestay Application if interested in this option.
  • Off campus housing: Estimated cost based on sharing a two bedroom apartment near campus.
  • Meal plans: Meal options include the block plans valid for the whole semester. These plans allow for access to all dining halls and for those with points, to most cash operations. Points can be used like cash at the various restaurants and cafes on campus that do not accept meal plans.
  • Medical Insurance: While insurance coverage is not required in order to receive care at Student Health Services, all students are required by the University to maintain health insurance coverage. The Bailey Agency provides insurance for students who have not purchased their own coverage plan.   • Institutional TOEFL: The Institutional TOEFL (Test of English for Speakers of Other Languages) is a paper-based test administered by UCAELI once or twice each session. The test score is accepted by the University of Connecticut.
  • Refund Policy: If you decide not to attend the program, your $100.00 tuition and $75.00 application fee will not be refunded. However, if you submit a new application within 12 months from the date of the first application, we will credit the $75.00 application fee to your account. In case of sickness or other emergency, the UCAELI Office will refund your tuition and housing fees on a prorated basis upon receipt of proper documentation. If you want to withdraw from the program, fees will be refunded according to the following schedules:

  • 1 week before a session starts

    Program fee less $175.00

    After first day of classes

    No refund

EECIS Program Costs

  • $350 (8 week courses) - Academic Writing, Focus on Pronunciation, Communicating on Campus, TOEFL Preparation (min 5 / max 7 students)

Payment Methods

  • Tuition and other fees may be paid in cash in person, or by check, money order, wire transfer or credit card.
  • Tuition should be paid in full prior to the start of classes.

Payment of tuition and all other fees may also be made by credit card after arrival during registration.
